My Young Career Mommy Fashion Style: C.C.C

C.C.C makes up the 3 main statements I look to meet when choosing my outfits for work style.

"CHIC,
CUTE,
and COMFORTABLE"

Now that I am a mom and a young one at that, I want to go back to career-mode in a fashionable yet "take me seriously because Im here to WORK" style.

I thought It would be fun to share with you, my readers, some of the outfits I will be wearing once I start working next week. I am in Corporate Recruitment for a large investment company, so clearly that must tell you I need to have first and for most have a "professional demeanour". Secondly, I want to bring in Spring sooner that the weather does with bright, happy colours mixed with classic blacks and whites to make a pow statement.

With that said, I will be posting weekly my outfits and accessories worn to work, to share with other career mommies who are also young and vibrant and share of my experiences with finding, picking and wearing them.

Most of the accessories I will be wearing will come from my Purple Heart line of jewelry and statement pieces, but a lot of the outfits will just be from daily/weekly scouting at malls, department stores and of course Joe fresh (I absolutely LOVE Joe Fresh Baby for my son and Joe Fresh Women for me!)

Here are a few new pieces I got this past week to kick off my new "Mommy Goes to Work: Fashion Diaries" posts starting this month on the blog. I hope you follow along, tweet me your opinions and favourite places to shop at @aPurpleHeartMom.

First up, I believe every young professional needs a TON of sexy, tailored Blazers. They give you that crisp, clean and well-put-together look, especially with a statement piece necklace. I got a grey and a white to start things off. I think these two colours can work with numerous colour mixes.

Forever XXI - White - $29.80

Forever XXI - Grey $29.80
Purple Heart - Nude & Turquoise Statement Piece

Purple Heart - Collar Pearls Necklace
Next up, SHOES!!!!
I still have a lot more shoes to add to my small but growing collection, but I thought these 3 were a good place to start. Some of you remember my Leopard Ankle Booties from a previous post here. I absolutely love them! I also got a new Nude pump with Black accents and a cute wedge heel from Nine West. I love these colours since they can go with a variety of outfits.  Comfort is definitely a big factor when it comes to shoes, so I will only purchase options that I can actually make it during the day in! My collection is coming along..

Sears - $5.00!!!! (Clearance Sale)

Shoe Company - $25 (sale as well)

Winners - $39.99

Lastly, Pants. I love the fitted/tailored to the bottom style this past few seasons. They give the legs length, definition and go well with sexy pumps or comfy flats. Here is one I picked up yesterday from Forever XXI. I love pants like this that are made from that stretchy material which helps to pin in they Muffin top we momma's know and hate! Also, I like that it gives us that well-defined look and still is comfy as TNA yoga pants. Best of both worlds I say!

Forever XXI - Black with Tuxedo white strip on sides - $39.00

Follow along weekly for more "Mommy Goes to Work: Fashion Diaries"! Cant wait to tweet with you all!

Off to the movies with mom! Happy Weekend!

My 2014 Book list that gives "a young momma Motivation"

As I come to a closure of a chapter in my life and start a new one next week (starting a new corporate full-time role),  it dawned on me that I need something to keep my hopes high, and positivity to motivate and help me balance my new life as a working mama.

I thought, what better way than to read a few books that really SPEAKS TO ME. Not just any book, but a book that I can go to when I need time away from the craziness, or a book that I can almost meditate on when I'm feeling the need to be re-energized from a long day at work and home with family.

I have always been the type to read all types of books for the main purpose of aiding me in my journey while going through various life changes. Which in terms of this new life change I will be experiencing, I thought I would share with you all my 3 Top Wish-list books that I will be picking up and reading for the  next few months.

These 3 books all have a common purpose for me and that is to MOTIVATE me. I want to learn how to be happy doing something I love, all while finding balance with all of it so nothing lacks. I want to be an fantastic Corporate Recruiter, an in-touch and consistent blogger & shop owner. I also want to be a hands-on nurturing mommy to my 2 year old son and a adoring, loving wife to my hubby.

Can I really handle all of that within a 35 hr work week? Do I have what it takes to balance them effectively and with care?

All I know is that Im not looking to be perfect, but I do know that all of these things are what I want and will continue to work hard for.

With all that said, here are my 3 books to coach me on along the way:

1. I have been a solid fan of Danielle Laporte since I "coped" her former book, "The fire Starter Sessions" last year. She has such a way with words in her books that make you feel like you're having a direct heart-to-heart with her in your home office. She tells it like it is and keeps you re-organizing your goals and actions plans. In this new book, "The Desire Map", she helps us narrow down a plan to reach our Happiness, instead of our "goals". It is a new way of thinking which she states -
"Your bucket list. Quarterly objectives. Strategic plans. Big dreams. Goals. Lots of goals and plans to achieve those goals-no matter what. ExceptYou're not chasing the goal itself, you're actually chasing the feeling that you hope achieving that goal will give you. Which means we have the procedures of achievement upside down. We go after the stuff we want to have, get, or accomplish, and we hope that we'll be fulfilled when we get there. It's backwards. And it's burning us out."
I cannot wait to dig into this book and I know i will uncover a lot more about myself and what I want out of life than I do now.

2. Sparkle: The Girl's Guide to Living a Deliciously Dazzling, Wildly Effervescent, Kick-Ass Life
had me as soon as I read the title. What woman doesn't want to live a " deliciously dazzling, wildly effervescent kick-ass" life? I uncovered this book through Twitter when I landed on Cara's (The Author) twitter page. As she says about this book, it is a book designed to help woman uncover what makes them SPARKLE and how they can use these qualities to live a life they desire and better yet deserve. It is like a celebration of your personal qualities and motivation to help you use them effectively in any environment.

3. Lastly, this book is probably my most excited to read book of all three. Its called The Working Mom Manifesto by CEO/Mommy-preneur of Glamajama, Author and Motivational Life Coach, Heather Schuck. I also discovered her through Twitter and immediately fell in-love with her story and not to mention amazing twitter feeds! She is a mother bursting with a beautiful story to tell of her past struggles and current success. She has made a life out of her disasters from the past and proves that any mother can do the same thing if they try! She is truly an inspiration to me.

I hope some or all of these books end up on your bookshelves as well as mine because they are all great, motivating reads for us women and momma's!

Thanks for reading.

P.S: I would love to hear any of your favourite "Motivational reads" for young woman and mommas!

The NEW Working Girl (or should I say Mama)

It's funny how when you are experiencing an emotion or feeling or life occurrence, you usually fall upon a blog post/blog that automatically resonates with your exact feelings that moment. I believe It must be that "Blog-sphere" magic!

Some of you might know, in early December I lost by job due to downsizing (I am a recruiter by day, blogger/shop owner/busy-momma by night), which I was devastated by but of course, tried to make the best of it. I continued to think positive, cherish the time I got to spend with my son and hubby and also working on my store launch (still in progress!). I also continued to send out resumes to roles that I ACTUALLY wanted to get, not just to anything for means of income.

Well, couple days ago, I got the best news I could have received... I got the JOB!!!!

As of mid-February, I will be working in a large investment firm as their Corporate Recruiter for their Canadian Offices. I am so thankful to have landed this amazing opportunity to bless not only me but my family as well.

After really digesting the news and my complete excitement and happiness, I came across this amazing blog called "The Working Girl" by Sydney Roberts. She recently launched her re-branded site and I am so happy to have found it!

I quickly fell in love with the mission of her blog; to motivate young girl professionals with career advice, style tips of looking the part at work and living a healthy balanced life. This blog is EXACTLY what I need now to help me get back into the swing of things!

I found this perfect little saying on her about me page and had to share with you all:

This pretty much sums up the type of woman I want to be. I know that it won't be easy to balance life as a busy professional, mama, blogger and shop owner, but I am definitely willing to try! I admire her  post called "Happy New Year" where she speaks about her truthful journey she's on with her career, future goals and how far she's come. It definitely spoke to me about my own journey I'm on and that I should look forward to the new path God has placed my me on.

I have a lot more goals to reach and accomplishments to make happen this year, but I will do them without the least bit of fear!

Have a great weekend!
